Major children’s charity chooses mda as logistics partner

Barnardo's awards mda multi-year UK logistics contract

Barnardo’s, the UKs leading children’s charity, has chosen mda as their partner for their combined logistics requirements for at least the next three years.

With over 690 stores in the UK, including an online shop selling new goods, mda will be responsible for the storage, collation and delivery of point of sale items, online retail products, and managing logistics for Barnardo’s fundraising events.

This move also sees Barnardo’s join the strong list of charitable organisations within mda’s portfolio of clients, where they will benefit from a solution tailored for their business and industry.

Barnardo’s Head of Trading Paul Wright said: “Barnardo’s wanted a logistics supplier that would help us access best practice solutions and technology to improve the service we deliver to our stores, stakeholders and supporters so we can help even more vulnerable children and young people.

“We were really impressed with mda’s ability to handle the range of different logistical requirements we have across different parts of our business.

“Their flexibility, resilience, and high quality service made the decision to move over to mda a really simple one,  and we’re really pleased to be working together.”

Wayne Chapman, mda Managing Director added: ‘The not for profit sector is one we’re wholeheartedly proud to have supported over the past 30 years, and it’s our absolute privilege to help Barnardo’s continue to do more of the fantastic work they are renowned for.

“Supporting them across all areas of logistics means we will be in a position to deliver some great service and cost efficiencies. We’re really proud to begin our partnership and further provide for vulnerable children and young people.”

Barnardo’s will be managed from mda’s state of the art 110,000 square foot fulfilment centre in Wigan, and will benefit from online ordering, consolidated logistics, dynamic online reporting and a full account management team supporting their requirements.
